Trussed rafters are engineered components fabricated using strength graded timber and fixed with punched toothed metal plates. They avoid the need for internal load bearing walls and thus reduce construction costs.
At TRADA Technology we conducted most of the initial research into trussed rafters in the 1970s and 1980s making us well placed to deal with any analysis or problems you may have.
We set up the trussed rafter scheme in the 1970s, which is now run by BM TRADA Certification (TRADA Technology's sister company). This Q-Mark product certification scheme requires manufacturers to comply with BS 5268: Part 3 and the production requirements of BS EN 14250. Manufacturers must also operate an ISO 9000-based quality system.
Scheme members receive two visits per year, which ensure that the quality management system is operating satisfactorily. During the visit manufactured trussed rafters are selected at random to check the quality of manufacture against specification.
Where certified products are made or installed by a member of TRADA, their details are listed in the suppliers directory.
