What preservative specification do I need for cladding?
This depends on a number of factors including the species of timber and the design life of the cladding. BS 8417 provides guidance on the treatment of timber for use in the UK and allows a service life of up to 60 years to be specified. The Wood Protection Association (WPA) Manual ‘Industrial Wood Preservation Specification and Practice' included guidance and recommendations on the selection and specification for preservative pre-treatment.
