Where can I cut holes or notches for pipes and other services?
There are guidelines for solid timber in our Timber Frame Construction Manual. Joist's have to be cut within the guidelines set out in British Standard 5268-2, otherwise the grade of the timber is invalidated.
For other products such as I-joist's or metal web joist's, please refer to the manufactures' guidelines.
